Commonplace

A little sprinkling of gold by kvothe_

Sometimes I wonder why we tend to admire things that are rare.
Gold, diamond, platinum are all rare, and admired and collected by us.
Dirt on the other hand is commonplace.

When did commonplace become derogatory.
What was it like when most of us were honest? Was honesty considered to be commonplace and discarded because of it? Now an honest person is admired.
Makes you wonder when and why commonplace became derogatory...

13th July...

An awesome year comes to an end...
The World loses king of pop,
The Large Hadron collidor is restarted,
Avatar comes and makes movie watching a whole new experience, people kill themselves out of depression of not being able to see Pandora ever,
Tiger Woods scores and scores and scores,
Windows 7 sells 7 copies per seconds, making it the fastest selling OS in history,
Pigs fly, or rather flew,
The last year that Half life could have been set in, as the calendars in the game display 200X, goes by,
iPhone 4 is launched, making the way people hold there phones important,
De Jong, inspired by The Karate Kid, high kicks Alonso and Netherlands try to bring some fun in an otherwise boring game by playing for cards,

Meanwhile somewhere, however insignificantly,
I meet an awesome group of friends,
YUVA is formed and we come together as if drawn by the darkness :P,
I get a whole new reason for living,
manage to hold on to my job, that too quite admirably,
We assemble together on the completion of an year just as we were together at its beginning, a little grown up, a little childish, still the same sparkle in the eyes, the curious look gone from the eyes which had asked, Will we be good friends?, a little more trusting, a little more open, head full of stories of heartbreaks of one another,

DAMN time passes quickly.....

Fake

Humans are selfish by design. If someone claims he's not, he's either ignorant or is used to lying. Take Shahrukh Khan for example. He's suddenly the "hero" because he has stood up against communalism. Where were you when north indians were being attacked in Mumbai, Wasn't it your duty as a "Hero" to stand up for those who couldn't speak for themselves? How do you feel, now that you are the one on the receiving end? To me you are not a hero, you are just one among the flawed species we are.

In fact all the people making a fuss about a goddamn movie, did you stop your car to help a person who was being assaulted while you were on your way to the theater.

We don't need heroes. PERIOD.
